ARES
Jackson County Command Vehicle
ARES has two Yaesu FT-857D All-Mode HF - VHF / UHF transceivers. One is mounted at one of the operator positions in the JC Command Vehicle and the other is mounted on a portable board and kept in a Pelican case. The FT-857D in the JC CV is mated with a Yaesu ATAS-120 for automatic tuning from 7 - 10 Meters as well as VHF and UHF with the use of a Diamond Diplexer. The 'automatic' ATAS-120 vertical antenna is mounted on the roof rail towards the back of the JC CV when the vehicle is stationary; it is easily removed for vehicle travel due to it's height.
Also available for ARES use in the JC CV is an ICOM IC-PCR1000 all mode receiver connected to an operator positions laptop. This receiver will tune from broadcast to 1Ghz and has many computer controlled scanning capabilities for monitoring frequencies for propagation and may be used for digital signal monitoring - APRS, Amtor, etc.
PDF's of equipment manuals are available for viewing and may be downloaded below from the "Manuals" link at the bottom of each page in this site.
A PowerPoint presentation has been created specifically for ARES operations in the JC CV - download it here.
